I bought my Samsung washing machine in 1993.
It's still going strong, has some rusted panels and stopped spin drying about 10 years ago. Probably slipped or snapped the drive belt.
I'm not worried. I live in Queensland, where the sun always shines, so I just hang my washing out to drip-dry.
The other thing I learned is to use a laundry disinfectant, Canesten, Pine O Cleen or Dettol when you have an old machine. Works well.
