Car maintenance
19-Oct-20
How often do you get your car serviced each year? Sometimes I have to go two or three times. Does this sound like a large amount to you? Maybe I'm being conned.

  • A few years ago, when cars didn't self monitor themselves, have on board computers and were less reliable, it use be every year...nowadays it appears to be every 6 months...probably just to check all the sensors, monitors and computers are working properly...its a whole new growth industry with a lot of money involved

          • Depends on the condition of the car.

                                                                • Always get our car serviced every 6 months, the modern cars it is usually every 15,000 kms. Ours is a camper van, for holidays and everyday use, that way we only have to run one vehicle. Now hubby is on the pension, Rego is free, only pay for the CTP and insurance, saves us a fortune when we holiday, mostly free camp, as we have installed solar panels, otherwise there would be no holidays at all.We have a family friend that is a mechanic so we save heaps on services.
                                                                  ·

Usually a Mitsubishi car and about twice a year but think 3 times or more is too much but it depends on how much you use it..But yes I think some places do try and put it over females, so you need to be wary.
                                                                    ·

                                                                          ·

                                                                            ·

                                                                              ·
                                                                              • agreed! I learned this the hard way. When I finally got my previous car in for a service, they asked me how I was able to drive it up to the garage! No oil, very little water, tire pressures too low and the wind-screen wiper reservoir was bone dry. I get my car I have now serviced every 4 months or so, depending how much mileage I've done. I think, as someone else said here, it's every 10, 000 kms.
                                                                                ·

I know people who drive a couple of hundred thousand KMs per year and they get it serviced 4 or 5 times at least where as others who don't drive much like one person who had 150.0 on the trip meter after a year didn't need to get a service at all but they did need to get the guys out to start it and replace the dead battery and stale fuel because it wasn't started enough or used anywhere near enough.
                                                                              ·

                                                                                  ·
                                                                                  • The car gets serviced more than I do. Generally with the car, it's every 10,000kms. Depending on the quality of the vehicle, sometimes every 20k is fine. But it's important if you want to run into less issues, to have it serviced regularly.
                                                                                    ·

                                                                                            ·

Of course is something requires fixing my go twice a year and get it done as finances permit, without being a risk of course. Otherwise the car has a little holiday in the carport.
                                                                                              ·
