I think people have to use a LOT of common sense when it comes to social media influences. Personally I would NOT BUY ANYTHING just by what I saw on a social media site. If you don't know the person personally or know the company well - I say NO WAY.

Famous for nothing really. Imagine trusting someone who gets paid lots of $ to tell you to buy the products. Are they really going to admit to a product being crap and lose their money? I do not follow nor care about social media influencers. I am very wary about buying from ANY source that i do not know (face to face or online). I believe most are just nobodies who are just out there for the "likes" and to get a huge following. Thre are some TV personalities (and probably others from movies and radio too) who are paid or get gifts to endorse a product, but i have noticed that they make a point of saying that they are paid to endorse a product or if it is something they genuinely love/approve/recommend, they mention that it is NOT a paid endorsement. It all comes down to buyer beware.

Most of them are so false. If you met them in the harsh light of day, most are very ordinary. They use so much makeup they look plastic and a lot have used cosmetic surgery. i do not have anything to do with social media,for one i do not like it and two i think it is a load of rubbish, maybe thats my age showing, but i certainly would not buy a product just because they endorsed it, i like to see for myself what i am buying and if i like it i buy, and if i dont like it i dont buy, easy as that.

Unfortunately, its the youth and young ones who make the SI's what they are today. If just one person follows you, you have become a leader - influencer. That is where the problem with this crap about social media is, right there - we've, (youth/young people today, in general terms), given it (SM) tooooo much of their brain power. Young ones carp on about how oppressed they are in not being allowed to make their own decisions - only, in the stuff they can decide about music, art, clothing styles, foods, drugs, games to play, teams to support, et al, they're all too ready and willing to let others do the thinking and choosing for them! I think it's really always been this way; it's just with the world-wide, vice-grip SM has on its adherents, you can't help but notice it now. Everyone's "tin-can"ning it through life!

I only ever check to see if anyone finds anything wrong with the product. Otherwise I rely on my own intuition or family and friends.

They get paid for their endorsements most are celebrities or have a fan base in films or music or modeling or a mix things & get paid to endorse to their fans just like TV or radio ads.

I never even look at that sort of thing, I have a limited amount of friends and family on facebook but that's it. Though mind you I could probably let Valentino Rossi talk me into buying a Yamaha! But he would have to come and teach me how to ride it and at my age that could take a long time.

You got me thinking on how to answer this and here is my personal opinion, which didn't take much figuring out, thank goodness my brain is still my own and only gets the occasion wash by I, myself and me alone. Are their product (or service) endorsements legitimate enough for me to go out and buy a prduct or service - NO (but I never listen to a traditional salesperson when it came to buying a product or service)! Before buying a product I will look at the details of the product. I will gather some information about the product. I will ask the person or the pharmacist who sells the product which product he/she sells, what are the side effects of the product, how effective it is.Edited 21-Jun-21 00:38am
