Discussion of the Day
The Price of Fame?
Marietta M14-Sep-24
One time I was watching a talk show (can't remember which) and the host and one of his guests were discussing a recent incident with Julia Roberts, where she was out shopping and was barraged with photographers who wouldn't leave her alone, and she got very annoyed with them. The host of the show was sympathetic toward Julia, saying that celebrities are entitled to some privacy, without having to deal with unwelcome attention all the time, and should be able to relax and have a cup of coffee or whatever and not be bothered. The guest disagreed with him. She said that when you're famous, constant recognition and lack of anonymity is the price you pay for wanting to be a star, and along with all the perks they have to accept the downside as well.
Neither changed their viewpoint and agreed to disagree. I'm curious: how many of you agree with the host or with the guest?
