Nights would be eternally black with no electricity..diseases and plagues could take out many species .. Predators could also take over, who knows? Animals could not be saved without humans . No music ,no joy that humanity does bring to the planet. Yes there are things we can all do to improve our care of nature. But we are obviously put here for good reason. Maybe now, the way things are, but the earth will never be without humans because, although he created the animals first, God created the earth for humans to live on forever, happily, peacefully with each other, and with the animals! Please read Isaiah 45:18 in the Bible! ;-D

I am a Christian, and I myself believe that God created the earth and all the animals on it. He put man here to take care of His creation, but we haven't done a very good job, have we? God loves animals, but He loves mankind more, and has a plan to redeem everything in His time. Let's do a better job of loving people and taking care of our world.

perhaps the 99% of extinct species of all time, would be a lower rate with a better balance of all plants and animals and a cleaner environment

Animals are definitely important for the earth, but lhumans is what allow the evolution of progress and help protect the earth.

Humans are what make it earth. Pretty sad that some think it would be a better place without people. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones because I have some lovely people in my life.

I think that without humans or even with cavemen type humans mechanically and numerically then at basic normal general rates of earth evolution, in about 30,000 years there would be sabre tooth tigers, among other things. And left to develop as such, much the same flora and fauna as last prehuman times would also develop again.

Well for sure the animals would be better off without humans. But humans are what makes the world a WORLD. Without humans the " world" would just be EARTH.

I wonder how they ran this study. Where did they “stop” the evolution of homo sapiens? I think that decision alone would effect the outcome of their trial. And the concept of “better” would need to be defined as well.

Absolutely better off. Humans are infinitely selfish. We think it's our born given right to procreate at will, consume all resources and decimate all land. Many will argue against me but I question if another 'being' came to our earth and did what we have, would we consider it okay. If they considered us 'inferior animals' and put us in cages with leashes would we accept that. Looked at through another lens we are not so favourable to this planet or its animals.

The earth before humans was the garden of Eden. Even without humans the earth has gone through ice ages and warmer ages and with each stage some animal species became extinct. For example, before climate change turned the middle east into desert there were friendly crocodiles which the Egyptians kept as pets. Imagine that!

While we as humans have certainly done a lot of damage to the world and its animals, not everything is so black as is often painted. What about the animals that have actually been saved from extinction by the dedicated efforts of some people? Przewalkski's horse, Northern hairy-nosed wombat and probably even the Great panda are some examples. While humans often cause the decline of so many species in the first place, others decline simply through natural pressures too. Would there still be giant marsupials in Australia if humans had never arrived here? That is impossible to say, as there were likely any number of factors that all worked together to wipe them out.

Does "without humans" mean "without me"? Without me the world would certainly be a lot worse off. For instance, I have made large numbers of women very happy. Just think of what all these women (and girls) would miss out on!!!

No, it would not be better off without humans. If evolution had not reached the stage were it was possible for humans to exist, then the earth would be occupied mainly by apes and ape-like creatures. Come to think of it, maybe it REALLY would be better that way.

We seem to forget that man has been on earth for about 50,000 years. Other species of animals have been here much longer. Apparently after the decline of the dinosaurs (due to the landing of an asteroid on earth) there was a small mammal, rather like a rat - who was the beginning of all the other mammals including man. If there is some greater power than us - he/she may now be deciding that this latest phase of the world was also not perfect and will once again call down a great cataclysmic event to wipe the world free of the pesky humans. Perhaps the marine life will get the next chance to be Boss!

Back to nature, only one species would dominate like humans.

Yes absolutely the world would be way better off without humans. We developed and we have grown and we have raped and pillaged for our own greed, to the suffering of every thing less than us. Did we deserve what we have achieved I really don't think so and yes a majority of us worked hard, kept growing and don't live as if we own every thing or every thing owes us. A simple life is what a majority of us want. I am guilty of seeing animals in a zoo for my own entertainment but we have saved species but we have also caused extinction of many species through lack of understanding and knowledge of the species and of course over population, deforestation etc etc. Mother Nature is paying us back ten fold with draughts, floods, fires and unseasonal storms all which is getting worse.

There would just be something different to be the apex predator who would wreck the planet just like we do.

IF US HUMANS could co exist with all living things, which includes our oceans, natural forests, plants, animal’s, bird life, insects…our planet itself, thinking we’re all ONE, equal, however the majority of humans haven’t done that, so I to wonder if earth would be better off without humans greed and power???

Did humans exist with dinosaurs? How could we have survived with animals of that magnitude? God created humans AND animals. Are we questioning God's plan? That is just wrong in my viewpoint! It would be more habitable for a while until the next extinction event. It would be much cleaner, climate change rate would be less steep and animals would be managing animal populations better than we do. Generally a more harmonious environment. The earth won't be habitable forever though regardless of whether we're here or not due to external factors that we can't control so it's up to us to figure out how to handle the hazards and keep life thriving otherwise find a new home on another planet (devoid of existing life but hospitable for us hopefully) and try to preserve existing species as much as possible.Edited 28-Feb-23 09:24am

There are both good and bad humans. The problem is that we only hear about the Bad ones like Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Mussolini, Putin, Rasputin, most of the British and other countries Royal Families down the centuries, Religious leaders, Politicians - past and present. It is they who create Wars, Division, Hatred, Cruelty, Discrimination, Racism. The average man and woman wants none of that. We want to live in Peace, to be able to feed our Children, care for the Elderly should they want/need it, help those less fortunate than ourselves should they want/need it. If someone wants to live in squalor then they should be able to do so without self-styled do-gooders, usually religious nutters, telling them they should not live that way. If some want to live in extreme luxury then they should be allowed to so long as in getting there they don't destroy others in the process and get what they want honestly. Since we humans have so domesticated animals to rid the world of us would be cruel to them as they have become dependent on us.

The world would certainly be better off without certain humans, such as tyrants, despots, maniacs, narcissists, autocrats and others with personality disorders.

The air would be cleaner and the earth would be less populated without humans building too much stuff ruining it and having no climate change problems. Animals could live in peace not having to worry about man killing them for food, clothes,etc. Certain animals wouldn't have to worry about being extinct because of humans taking there land for profit tearing down there land and killing them. Animals wouldn't have to worry about being caged for circus's, zoo's, being abused, or being sold for money. You sure as heck don't see animals ruining the earth with military weapons, chemical pollution with factories, oil leaks in oceans, polluting the air with gas from cars, planes, houses, and trashing the earth with dirty garbage and starting fires from burning houses and other things. Most of the problems are from humans and to deny it is lying acting like humans aren't at fault. We as humans are all at fault even me, myself, and I. We all could do better to take care of the Earth, animals, and each other but instead we deny and cover it up like we have immunity that it will last forever but it won't. If we weren't around the Earth would last way longer, be cleaner, and safer for the animals. Animals don't try to control everything like humans do. We as humans are greedy, spoiled, fight too much, don't understand each other, hate each other, control too much, and need to love more instead of being possessive all the damn time. Humans aren't the problem. Inherited sin through our original parents because of disobedience, listening to Satan, the Devil, is the problem, and from the beginning God has told us in the Bible what that caused, what will fix the problem, but not exactly when. Only God knows when it will happen. Read Matthew chapter 24. We know from the signs of the end recorded in the Bible that we are living in the last days. Soon the Great Tribulation will occur, then Armageddon, them a Paradise Earth, as God purposed it to be! I'm waiting as patiently as I can, without any doubt! Read Isaiah 45:18 in the Bible. I'm just a messenger. You can agree to disagree, or you can read the scriptures I've suggested to find the Truth! ;-D
