I am an only girl in a family with four brothers. My mother lived to be 88 years old and had dementia. I moved her in with me and cared for her for the last three years of her life. Only one of my brothers came to see her, the others didn't even call to check on her. Mom was a good mother and took good care of us growing up. We had an alcoholic father who cared more about his liquor than about us, but Mom made up for it by giving more of herself. I know of other families that have had only daughters, and they had the same situation with a parent. What's wrong with this picture?
