1972 brand new Ford Cortina 240, returning home from work turning right on a green arrow, and that was the last I remember, luckily in front of a police station with officers on the porch, when my father saw the car he nearly passed out, so I was told, as I was turning right a screaming fully loaded semi Traylor came through an amber light took my left hand side blew the back tyre, spun me around to face the way I came from, car folded in half, My pride and hard work ended up on the scrap heap

When some idiot stopped in a 100km roadway, with no indication, I think I stopped just in time but the person behind didn't and pushed me into the idiot.

When I rode motorcycles I had a few close shaves because of others. Were they my fault? I doubt it as you can't be stupid on a motorcycle and expect to live long. My eyes never stopped looking, and my mind never stopped processing the road ahead.

It didn't involve another car. We were taking a drive one hot day over the easter long weekend when we came across a red belly black snake crossing the road. He should have been in hibernation, but I think the day was too hot, my husband who hails from backwater Queensland and thinks he's a bushy stopped to get a better took which seemed to annoy the snake no end because it stopped right in the middle of the road and reared up flattening it's head and looked at us through the front windscreen. Hubby stepped on the gas and swerved to the opposite side of the road and we didn't look back. It was pretty scary.

Having a motorcyclist pull a gun and shoot it at our car because we and the car next to us in their lane were too close together for him to drive in between. Which is illegal in the US. If the girlfriend riding on the back hadn't have lifted his aimed arm up into the air, the bullet would have come through my passenger window instead of up in the air. But what goes up, must come down so someone could have been killed that day. God definitely had his protective watch on me/us that day. Do good, make good choices, be kind and considerate and it's bound to come back to you somehow. I know this like I know the sky is blue.

Embarrasing..i was rushing to get a workvisit kit and left the Hospital car with the brake off- came back and it had rolled into a handrail. ThankGod it didn't hit anyone. Also left handbrake off when rushing our newborn pups into vets for checkup. Dented car and didn't want to tell hubby and managed to sneak it to panelbeaters and get it back next day fixed without him knowing. Er there's been a few other handbrake incidents too. I try to avoid parking on hills or slopes these days.

Last Saturday night we were coming home from my young daughter, along a poorly lit road, and as it was night time I was taking my time, when all of a sudden, what I presume was 4X4 Vehicle came speeding to me, I just drove carefully, but he kept coming closer to,and flashing his lights at me,he was almost hit me when he over took me on a continuous white line, and just a short distance further on,I found a car coming from side St on my left side, so I was to slow right down, which the motorist time to reverse, meanwhile 4X4 had sped off, I would hate to think what speed he was

I was making a left-hand turn into a bank. Someone came speeding up on the wrong side of the road to pass us. As I was turning I almost turned right into him. He was in the wrong.

Was driving on a country road and tried to drive round the corner. There was a lot of blue metal spread on the corner and my VW slid sideways. I could see a 4 wire barbed wire fence heading for me and no control on the slide. I thought " this is it! As luck would have it, the fence was old and I burst through the fence. After getting my breath back the farmer arrived to ask what was I doing. When I explained he said, "yeah that's a bad corner. Don't worry about the fence it was long overdue to be re-fenced". For the next few weeks I had 3 big scratches like a lion's claw had scraped the hood of the Beatle.

On a family holiday in the 70's and I was 12 years old, driving in a mountainous area on a rainy day. In a time when you were allowed to, the back seats of our station wagon were laid flat, making an area for my brother, sister and I to have breakfast, so Dad could make good time on the trip. Going around a bend, the car began to slide out of control, Dad tried to keep the car on the road, but we crashed over the side of the mountain and down a gully, with Rice Bubbles and milk going everywhere. We were all OK, but took 1/2 a day to tow the car out up the side of the mountain.

I was driving in the left lane of a Freeway, next to the carpool lane. Some impatient person was in the car pool lane and decided to exit before his turn, glanced off my car, spun out, and really hit a small pick up truck. He had 2 kids in the car and no insurance. Fortunately none of us were hurt.

He never even slowed down. We pulled over to see if he would come back. We called the police, and waited for the other driver to return, but he never came back.

Once while stopped at a red light while on my P plates, i had a car run up the back of me (it had been stopped but then decided to move forwards, hitting the back of my ute). I got out to check for damage (none to me thanks to my tow ball) and ask why he did it, his only response was "because i am in a hurry and don't want to wait for the light to turn green". I did grow up on a main road, so got to see far too many accidents out the front of our house during my childhood as well as some of those turning into fatalities. :( My most memorable would be a bad 3 car accident which involved a girl about my age being trapped in the car. When they got her out, their family was put on our front lawn while ambulance tended to their family. I took my blankets off my bed for the girl and her family. Thankfully all the family survived and the family would drop by our house each year for a chat and to let us know how their family was doing.

When I pulled out to pass them, the one in front of me decided to pass at the same time! I had nowhere to go except for the berm. I went down the road with two semis side by side on my right, and me using the berm as the third lane until I could get slowed down enough to get back on the pavement. It was a little dicey because on the berm, there were yellow poles every so often that I had to avoid on my left while avoiding the semis on my right! I often wonder what they said. I thought it was kind of fun until after the event! Then I was amazed at my quick-thinking and good driving skills. I never panic or slam the brakes. That would have been disastrous. Never slam the brakes if you can avoid it. Gradually slow down, and NEVER hit anything head-on if you can avoid it. I hit one deer, but I turned quickly so I wouldn't hit it head-on and take out the grill. It did very little damage to the car and to the deer! I almost hit a bank head-on, but I did slam down the brakes and turned a hard right to keep the damage minimal. To my surprise, I had hit nothing! I was headed the wrong way, but I did not damage anything! I have a couple other stories too where I came out with no damage, but I've said enough. One guy told me that I did some fancy driving! LOL

The car hit the tree on the front right hand corner and should not have suffered the damage that it did which resulted in the steering Colum being driven through the drivers chest and impaling her into the drivers seat. The steering wheel collapsed as it should have the steering column collapsed as it should have but the panel work collapsed as it should not have and reduced the length from several feet to under 6 inches.

A car hit on the side and we went skidding and we eventually rolled onto our side. I remember thinking it's alright we are okay, left our number with other car as no one was hurt no police were called. When the car was put right with a bit dent in the side we went home. It was very hard telling my Mum how this went down. We could have been killed.

Oh, by the way, my left arm was hurt, and I was driving with my right hand only, while my left arm rested on the window edge. I'm left-handed. Without time to think, my "car" went behind a car in the opposite lane passing me, around the car coming toward me, in front of a car coming toward me in the opposite lane...then I pulled off the road and thanked God for sending an Angel to steer my car! Talk about "Jesus, Take The Wheel"! This is absolutely a true story! ;-D

I was a passanger in both. 1st my brother was driving and we hit black ice on the road, the car spun around, we went through trees which ended up in the car and then we went through a fence. Just in shock, but luckily not hurt. 2nd was driving home with a friend and a was the passanger, a man had taken his daughters car, with no license, he got drunk and was driving with no headlights on and hit us head on. I broke my back in 2 places, my jaw in 3 places, my teeth were embedded in the dashboard, broke my nose, checkbone and eye socket. I had part of my bowel removed. I was in hospital for 5 months and had to learn to walk again. The drunk driver twisted his ankle and got a $400 fine and loss of licence, like how can you get a loss of licence when you didnt have one in the first place. Discusting punishment for what he did to me.

I started with "You know how you taught us that we would never get into trouble as long as we told the truth..." Needless to say he couldn't growl at me LOL

I went home and called into work and stayed home.

Came to a four way stop because of a blinking red light. Waited my turn and upon crossing I was broadsided by a car that went right through the red light. Spin me around and I didn’t know where I was after that!

Well it did happen. I did find my way eventually back to where I was staying.

Luckly, I saw the truck and stopped just in time. He rolled over about 1/4 mile ahead of us and landed on the side of the road. We were OK as we stopped in plenty of time but we were really scared.

Finally got off the road and had to have a drink. Coffee of course.
