Discussion of the Day
Airbrushing and Photoshopping should be banned
13-Nov-20
Trying to maintain a certain standard of beauty is tough, especially after thirty. There is so much societal pressure on women without having to look at photoshopped images of bodies that are unattainable. And they wonder why so many women have eating disorders. The mind boggles!

  • It's so unrealistic, it annoys me. I just want to be myself, I don't care whether people like it or not.

    • Agreed
      ·
      • I agree. We should be happy with our bodies and the way we look. Many people get better with age. Youth and beauty is not everything, it is the person inside the body.
        ·
        • Absolutely!!! Be happy with the way you look. We are all individuals

          • Couldn't agree more. What ever happened to be proud of yourself?

            • It's makng one think that whatever you see in magazines, etc isn't real anymore.
              ·
              • Most of the magazined that seem to have photoshopped pics that exert the 'social pressure on women' are seemingly written and produced by and for women. and yes 'the mind boggles'
                ·
                • May as well have an artist paint the picture rather than take a photograph - would end up the same way.
                  ·
                  • Give me natural anytime .We can be confident whatever shape we are .A good mind A good, kind loving nature can not be beaten

                    • Seems to me this airbrushing stuff is close to fraud but we do need to help people become more resilient. Caring what other people think is so damaging
                      ·
                      • not for me to judge?

                        • I wish we could all worry about something more important
                          ·
                          • Well actually lately I have noticed that there is less air brushing and photo shopped images on websites, particulary clothing ones,I am seeing more "real" shaped woman of all sizes and ages so I think companies are actually trying to have a more caring and balanced approach to society now.I don't know about magazines,I don't read any.
                            ·
                            • We should all be proud of who we are and what we look like. Forget the Airbrushing and be proud!! Marg T

                              • True - the camera doesn't lie so why should so-called "artists" try to alter the pictures/images to suit some sense of beauty
                                ·
                                • I don't think I have ever been able to tell the difference. To me if it looks great then ok.

                                  • Yeah!! Nobody wants to look at ugly but only to hide blemishes not to change physical appearance

                                            • Maybe we have to start insisting that ALL photgraphs portraying young women (girls) and men (boys) so as to promote fashion etc. are required By Law to have a Large Print disclaimer, like on tobacco products, stating "This/these Photos have been Deliberately altered and bear No Relationship to Real People" or something similar. Given that Medical Authorities are very concerned that impressionable young people - and some not-so-young - see these super glamourous, thin-to- the-point-of-emaciation models as having a body to aspire to so regulations need to be introduced.

                                                        • I think they should be banned because they end up showing pictures of stuff which is just unattainable. Meanwhile, people are on the treadmill trying more and more each day to reach some pinnacle of perfection which is not real. For kids and naive people like myself it is very demoralising! I remember as a kid being in awe of fashion pics in teen magazines, forgetting that their photo editors have many tools at their disposal. Definitely in favour of a ban here.

The freedom of speaking or picture is no right if you say you can be lock away for nothings. Next be social medical they say you can't pst your flavor picture as this should boycot as your to thin/etc. One law equal more laws no rights for us all. I think parents start off us thinking we not they idea and we became that. Love to children l, love your body and if cloths not fit change place or make your own cloths.

Graham don't kid yourelf it's all about women as more and more men are having beauty treatments in salons and having their hair dyed and chests waxed. Vanity is what it's called or being frightened of aging gracefully.

                                                                  ·

                                                                            ·

Can never understand it. Most women do not attain these ridiculous expectations. Well overdue to stop. I also wish they would stop puffing their lips up and all looking like they came out of a factory being stamped to look the same. Bring back individuality.
