Should we have a 3 day lock down reset every year?
Nico D19-Nov-21
Hey I m a bit of an introvert and really didn t mind lockdown! Of course no one wants COVID but should we have an annual compulsory lockdown to reset ourselves for up to a week every year? I d like to know how many people would like there to be a statutory lockdown period of a week each year to reset ourselves and spend time with our families.

No, surely you can reset your own life, I can do that now for a week without an annual compulsory lockdown.......

I wasn’t just meaning to reset ourselves but the environment , to give it a break from humans! It seemed there was less pollution n more birds singing n nature seemed to breath a ssigh of relief , I just think it be a good thing for individuals as well as the environment if we hit the reset button once a year like a bank holiday but where only food shops n essential services operate and families have to stay together in their bubbles doing family time. , I think I’f you had looked at it more subjectively and broader, you might have considered it wasn’t just a bout me but good for you if you think you n you alone can reset your environment and the wider environment n space you occupy and those around you!

Wouldn't worry me as I live out in the regions But think back 25 yrs Didn't we kind of do this Over Christmas/ Easter with everything shut ?

Worth a try. Has definitely helped me reassess my friendships, relationships. Might be worth a try, on a trial basis.

Absolutely not!!!!! The lockdowns we have had in Victoria have crippled a lot of small businesses and as a result have had to shut for good. Plus, what's the point?

I like lockdowns and am an introvert too but I think it's quite harsh on businesses that aren't adapted to it. There are way more work from home jobs available since the pandemic started so that's a good option for introverts.

my mental issues are ramping up as i have an at risk spouse in a care home- now with covid spreading i feel we are not safe any more if there aren't lockdowns. THough i guess we will be locked down in the rest home. So depressing.

I don’t think so but by the same token I think that considering what other generations had to endure during wars, such as blackouts, concentration camps, food storage’s, food stamps, internment camps, prisoner of war camps, none of us should be complaining about the Covid lockdowns we have been subject to

dont worry, covid isnt going anywhere soon. Far too many tinfoil hat wearing idiots with degrees from youtube know better than trained specialists and have decided its all a hoax, and that the injection will do things to you... So Covid will be around, lockdowns will continue, self centered numpties crying about their rights etc will continue to get sick and blame everyone else..... so yip, you will get your annual lockdown :) Enjoy, I sure do

Once the boarders open Australia will be hit hard we have been very lucky over the 2 years with a few deaths compared to other countries some states were hit hard with lock downs I have young grandkids who can't get vaccinated because of their age . I would love to see it it done on a monthly trial to knock it being spread the government helping business if it was to occur I'd rather be safe than sorry than loosing someone I love and what is a few days in a year

No what for and it's that just like a long week end which we do kind of have a few times every year any way. What is the point? Just wanting more holidays, I think we get enough of them through out the year. I was fine too in the lock downs not that we were really where we live but we choose to stay at home as we do most of our time any way. The people I feel for are the ones trying to run a business and have employees. There is a lot of stress as it is running a business and the employees aren't always there for their bosses and slack off. Most don't survive the first year as it is, they don't need more pressure that is for sure.

If you want to lock yourself down for 3 days, then go ahead, knock yourself out! BUT don't force it upon those that don't want to participate. There has been too much loss of freedoms and too many restrictions! I used to LOVE the free country we once lived in, the freedom that our ancestors fought and died for!

I am getting a little fed up with all this nonsense. The politicians handling of the virus has been appalling at all levels. The reality is that they are all clueless about what to do about it and clutch at straws to appear to be doing something. There is a wealth of information from very responsible sources available and the more you study it, the more you realise just how hopeless they are. So in answer to this question - no the politicians shouldn't have the power to impose totally unnecessary lockdowns at their whim for any period of time.

I'm a bit the same I've spent the most of the past 3 years at home, so really don't mind it. It's been partly because I do have a young child to look after. But it is nice every now and again to get out and about. I'd like to do that at my choosing and not be restricted by lockdowns.

If we don’t take the pressure off our environment with all the pollution we individually contribute to we are gonna see more catastrophic weather conditions, more damage by Mother Nature and ow lives lost and a lot of destruction , so if we could on that basis then is this a possible solution to the problem? Of course I recognise any lockdown causes other problems, mental illness, loneliness , loss of income , etc ,This was a question explore ideas and thoughts on these areas , there is no right or wrong response each person is entitled to their opinion right!

I say do what's best for you family. Let everyone do what they need to do to survive--nothing mandatory! I don't agree with mandatory vaccinations because I have no need for one, and I don't trust what the government has been doing. When Trump said to drink Clorox, my eyes and ears perked up wondering what the hell the government is trying to do.
