I'd like fusion energy to be commercially available with public able to access in the next 10 years. That's unlikely to happen though - more likely to be 30 years. The toilet, as it prevented many millions of infections and death from germs. Certain diseases were once common... even in western countries, centuries ago, now its really only a issue for the poor and developing nations. Penicillin and Xrays, have had a great impact in the field of medicine . Cars have had both a good and bad impact.

I will say electricity - which we take for granted (could not resist the cliche - lol) - until we are coping with a power outage (lack of electricity - unexpectedly).
