What are some bad habits people develop in their 30s?
Natalia J 52132102-Dec-24
Working too hard - it s true, we all seem to be chasing something. More money, higher status, the plush corner office, you name it. I see so many people trading countless hours of their lives to buy stuff they don t want to impress people they really don t like. End this madness. Invest in yourself. Take a break. Go on a vacation. Life is too short! What would you say? What are some bad habits people develop in their 30s?

Like if they had to finish high school and go to a job or somw other obstacles that they allow to block them from going to college for instance and or if they had to drop out of high school for some reason. Go on back to school get that education no matter what. Just do it. I know it's not gonna be easy, but there is always a way.

My problem is my place of work doesn't replace anyone when they leave or retire so less people are doing the work want more people used to do. and if I complain???..."Well you can always get another job if you don't like it here." is my reply. Great/thanks.

Australia now has the dubious title of "Thr Nation which is Building the World's Biggest Houses" Why? Do people, unless they are actually breeding a huge family, really need that Mega McMansion with 7 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms, a garage big enough for 5 or 6 cars, A Family Room. a Formal Sitting Room, Dining Room and a Kitchen with enough equipment for a restaurant?

Busy raising a family & working. Times these days are different to ours. You had laybys which you paid off a little each week. No credit cards then. Far too easy these days to spend what you don't have and end up in serious strife. I think it's more like trying to live up to what the Tom,Dick & Harry's are buying.

Everyone wants to have all the "cool" gadgets and trendy clothes, it would be a much better world if everyone was instead focusing on being a good, kind, decent human being, being a wonderful friend, partner or mother is much more important than having a pretty new dress.... N lay-bys were good, it was a good way to learn about responsibilities associated with spending and saving and then receiving a reward so to speak

To me doing that was a reward to myself. I have never had a Credit Card

Here are a few common ones: 1. Neglecting Physical Activity Busy schedules, careers, and family responsibilities can push exercise to the back burner, leading to a more sedentary lifestyle. 2. Poor Eating Habits Opting for convenience foods or skipping meals due to time constraints, which can lead to weight gain or energy crashes. 3. Ignoring Sleep Needs Juggling work, relationships, and personal goals often leads to cutting corners on sleep, even though it’s essential for health and productivity. 4. Letting Stress Go Unchecked High levels of stress, coupled with a lack of coping mechanisms, can lead to burnout or anxiety issues. 5. Postponing Regular Checkups Many people avoid routine doctor visits or health screenings, thinking they’re still too young for serious health concerns. 6. Over-Reliance on Caffeine or Alcohol Using coffee to stay energized or alcohol to unwind after a long day can become excessive. 7. Social Isolation As people focus more on family or work, they may drift away from friends or social networks, which can lead to loneliness. 8. Falling Into Financial Complacency Avoiding investments, saving, or planning for retirement, thinking they have plenty of time to handle it later. 9. Not Prioritizing Hobbies or Passions Forgetting personal interests or creative outlets in favor of work and responsibilities. 10. Negative Self-Talk or Fixed Mindsets Becoming overly critical of oneself or believing it’s too late to change careers, pursue a dream, or improve certain habits.

I took all the hours I could get. I had a drive to work, good work ethic and a family so when I was asked to do someone else's job or cover someone else's shift I did. Only problem with that is you do it often enough and you are the " go to person". I did back to back 12hour shifts, put me in a higher tax bracket, and ended up being paid very little more than my normal wage. A loophole also meant that taking someone else's position I wasn't getting overtime rates. It snow balled, and I was more worried about how I was perceived at work than my own health. Your own health and well being should take preference. If you don't look after you,you can't look after others.

I get it about getting ripped off at work too! I was the best at the worst job, so I became the go to for the job nobody wanted! Not even me, I'm skinny and female and they had me doing heavy men's work, because I was the best at doing the mixes for the machine, meant having to lug buckets of heavy materials up stairs into the hopper all night .. and if we made quota on certain two man machines, wed each get $25 extra for the night. I did so many bonus machines of back breaking labour trying to improve my paycheck, and it did! I got an extra $300, but guess how much taxes they took? $300! So all that extra work I did went to Trudeau! They really don't make it worth all the energy

It was very tiring. Like you I also ended up in the higher tax bracket and didn't really benefit from it financially.. I didn't do it for that reason but it would have been a good reward.
