I don't have Netflix, but this sounds like it would have been an interesting doco. I was dragged onto Fb because that's the only way I can interact with my distant siblings & niblings. I post very little & mostly send private messages.

I did watch this doco! It confirmed everything I have thought about social media over the years. It's precisely why, I don't bother with this area of social media.

no real need to watch this documentary; already agree with it's premise 1000000, or so, %. So much technology in the hands of people so young and inexperienced in life, is bound to have rather dire consequences sooner or later - we're starting to hit the "...later". Hard core soc med should be banned from use by those under 30, and anyone over 30, who has the time and inclination to use it for recreational purposes. It's usage by anyone else should also be strongly discouraged.

The dilemma is not social media, it is the fact that it is all anti- social media ,today more people were murdered by religious fanatics, there was not a word of sorrow from these ignorant fanatics for the people or there families, none of these so called leaders of these countries, offered a kind word of sympathy, there was only the burning of flags photos and effigies, are not lives more important than cartoons, are they so weak they cannot understand a cartoon, most of the people i saw on the various news channels today could not even read and write but hey, any fool can burn a flag, think of those who died today, what every god you believe in I'm sure he must be ashamed of your carry on, ashamed you would do this in his name, civilized people do not carry on this way

Watched it after a recommendation from a cyber security specialist. It's really good that it was made but didn't personally provide me with much new information. I think it's aimed for people who don't really think about the negative impacts of social media and how these companies try to manipulate them. Also I don't have Netflix ;)

I did not watch it but heard something about it. I tend not to use social media such as Facebook. I prefer Linkedin and Whatsapp for connection with people I know. Fake news and rumour are things I really dislike. Peer pressure is bad enough for young people when they face it in person.

Oh their kids use it, the scientists just don't know. To get upset over a post or not enough 'likes' is stupid. The corporate giants should shut down social media for a week. With no option but to go into the great big world and actually say hello in person will improve people's wellbeing. Our internet was down for a day and our teen son's thought the world was ending!!!!!!! Got over it pretty quick though when I taught them how to chop up wood and to use a machete for the bramble ..... ooohh aaahhh shiny weapons lol.....OMG!!!! Mum can I use the chainsaw???????

Didn't see the show. I believe everything in moderation is (generally) ok. If I occasionally have 1 or 2 beers...I'm fine. Drinking x amount every day/night, I'm in trouble. As long as social media usage is not excessive, it should be ok. In saying that, I don't use much of social media.

I don't use social media (excluding Rewardia.com). Furthermore, you don't have to be a computer system analyst, computer programmer, or computer scientist (?) to realize how damaging - using social media can be to adults and children! Besides I don't own a TV and refused to pay for TV streaming services ( or cable/satellite TV) - for over four decades! Therefore, I definitely do not watch "The Social Dilemma" documentary on Netflix!
