Mushrooming

Here in Australia it is mushroom season. I am interested to know who forages for mushrooms, especially the pine mushrooms - slippery jacks and saffron milk caps. Being of Irish and convict heritage most people I know think they are going to die if they consume anything other than a mushroom bought from a store. I have been interested in the pine mushrooms for quite a while now, having seen restaurateurs taking trailer loads away from pine forests from the Blue Mountains on travel shows. It is a big European thing I believe. Would love to hear stories of foraging mushroom, perhaps even some recipes.

    • Thanks Drusilla. There are foraging tours all through the autumn months. It is a growing industry in Australia.
