| Congratulations to Australian pensioners | ||

| FINALLY the Australian Federal government is giving us a fairer increase in our pension payments this month PLUS an increase in rent assistance payments. These increases are $14-80 per fortnight for singles, just over $22 for couples PLUS rent assistance. Although this is not a "DECENT" increase; it is more than the increase we got earlier this year and much more than the increase we DID NOT get at all late last year. As you know I have been pushing the Federal government to give ALL Australian pensioners a decent increase and because of this reasonable increase in pension payments PLUS a increase in rent assistance payments, I think the government is starting to listen...... Because I reminded them that we, the Australian pensioners are also voters and if they do not start taking better care of us, they could LOSE the next Federal election because there are over 5 million pensioners across Australia, which means we the pensioners hold the key to who wins the next election. For quite sometime the Government welfare payment advisors have been telling them that in order to survive, the Australian pensioners need a increase of at least $200 per fortnight, and as this latest increase is far from that my push for a "Decent" increase continues and I suggest that YOU contact your local politicians, because these latest increases show they ARE starting to listen | ||
