| Have we all been in the "Twilight Zone" for the past 2 years and next year; 2022 is the exit from that zone? Two years of covid, increasing numbers of infected people and deaths, new variants, International and State border closures, people unable to see loved ones for long periods of time, people stuck overseas or interstate and not able to get home, small businesses closing permanently, protests over lockdowns, mask-wearing and vaccines, super spreader events, and the list goes on. Add to that; all of the world leaders who have no idea what to do to contain or eradicate the covid-19 virus and who are more concerned about their economies. So far, Australia has been the lucky country as we have had much LESS infected people and deaths compared to ALL other countries around the world; however, now, unfortunately, Omicron has reached Australia and I mean EVERY State in Australia and numbers of infected people are rapidly growing each day and we are yet to see the effects of the family gatherings and various events around Australia ( super spreader events ) PLUS the effects of 1400 people who were told they are negative when in fact they were positive. and keep in mind Australia is in Summer; wait until Winter. With these things in mind, the various Premiers across Australia are ALL going to have to call "SNAP" lockdowns and border closures in the new year; meaning thousands more people stuck interstate or overseas; because if each State does not go back into lockdown to try to decrease daily infection numbers, then come to Winter in Australia, we will become as bad as other countries. This virus is here to stay as world leaders have no idea how to eradicate it, and we CANNOT keep going in and out of lockdowns forever but the alternative is catastrophic. The health minister of New South Wales recently stated that we will ALL eventually get Omicron and I believe this also applies ALL over the world because of the current daily infection numbers worldwide. As much as we want to believe we are in the "Twilight Zone" or dreaming; we are not; therefore all I can say to you ALL is Have a happy and safe 2022, do everything you can to avoid covid, make sure you are fully vaccinated, avoid large crowds where possible, support your local small businesses and keep in mind we are ALL in this together. Also, keep in mind, one way to minimise the spread of the virus and to try to avoid any more new strains is to pressure the world leaders into donating much more vaccines to poorer countries that cannot afford to buy the vaccines. Let us ALL safely get through another year together and support each other. I also hope that no one gets stuck interstate or in another country when / if our borders close again and we return to lockdown | ||
